Pheasant keepers? Anyone?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ill estimate it will be 9 months before you have the cage built and another 2 before you have the birds
at least we'll get to see more pasty white guy! lol

jk that was pretty low

We raised pheasants when I was young and I remember the reeves would chase me around along with the geese, I didn't like them that much...

Theyre. So. PRETTY.

I grew up on a hunting/shooting club in western washington were we grew pheasants and pigons both.

All the pheasant cages were 5 and a half feet tall by 60 feet long. Housed anywhere from 20-30 birds in each.

The biggest problems we would run across is where we lived we would always seem to get a 2 week spread of rain right when the chicks were a week to three weeks old and they would catch a cold. Specifically namonia *mutters about spelling*

So if breeding make sure to keep the chicks very very dry and warm thru the first month and a half to be safe.

Thats my 2 cents.

And please feel free to correct me on specific time frames if im fuzzy...its been fifteen+ years.

Good luck! they are great fun.

Pheasants now!!!!! You are a true redneck, or maybe a classy one. I think keeping pheasants classify you as classy redneck by most people's standards. :)

If you do get pheasants we have got to work out an arrangement for feathers. I'd love to get my hands on some of the tail feathers (shed of course).

That red golden is stunning!

man, the native pheasants in so cal don't look as pretty as those. I think we only have the ones in the 3rd picture.

I may consider keeping pheasants

How much do they cost and what kind of maintenance is involved? how big a cage do they need per pheasant?
