Historically LG has produced some crappy smart phones, too many issues with their UI skin they use over stock Android. I think the only LG phone I'd consider is the Nexus 4 because it runs vanilla Android. And the HTC DNA is actually the first phone in the US to have a true 1080p display with a resolution of 1080x1920 and 441ppi. The Optimus is actually 768x1280 with 318ppi so it's not a true 1080p display.
 
makes sense. The mountains and sparse living make for spotty service. I only pay $50 a month for totally unlimited, the best part of Sprint, so I can't complain too much plus I'm allowed to use my Verizon work phone for some personal use.

My mom has the S3 and it's alright, but it's too big for me. I would like a bigger keyboard sometimes with my, but it has voice search, so it's not that big of a deal. I like that I can carry it around in my pocket and not have it take up too much room. I wish it had an HDMI port, though, but at least it has expandable memory unlike Apple "junk". I like Samsung phones because they seem to be better built than LG or HTC.

Ok that definitely narrows it down, I just liked the 13mp camera it had, I love my HTC EVO 4G a lot, but I think the only other HTC Sprint has is the EVO LTE, how does screen quality rate against the optimus G?

I love the quad core 1.5ghz processor the G has too.

And last question, how does the iPhone 5 rate in terms of screen quality?

Both LG and HTC have good displays as they both use LCD screens. The Evo 4G and Optimus are pretty close, 318 and 312 ppi so you won't notice a difference. Spec-wise, the LG wins. I'd try them out both before you decide. The LG phones I've tried, I don't like their UI. I'd prefer HTC Sense over what LG does.

Now on to cameras, don't get caught up in megapixels. That's 100% marketing hype. Megapixels do nothing for image quality. And when it comes to cell phones, more megapixels can actually degrade image quality because so many pixels are crammed into a tiny sensor. My Nikon D90 has less megepixels than some cell phones these days but a cell phone will NEVER come close to the quality. It's about the sensor, and optics. Not the MPs.

Apple and HTC make the best cameras as they both use back-illuminated sensors which help with noise and low-light shooting. Samsung cameras are 'ok'. Motorola would be at the bottom of the crap pile. If you care about camera quality, stay away from Motorola. Here's a few pics I've taken with my HTC Rezound. I'd say they're not too bad for a cell phone :)

Oh and the iPhone 5 has a good display too. They use IPS LCD screens. Same tech as LG and I believe they're made by Samsung, not Apple. The ip5 has a 640x1136 resolution with 326ppi. The thing about Apple is their screens are so tiny it's hard to compare to any other smart phone :)
 
Upgraded yesterday to the OPTIMUS G and I love it! Best phone I've ever owned, and 1.5ghz quad core processor is faster then my computer, screen is huge and great quality, and awesome battery life!

One of my favorite features is the facial recognition system, when the phone detects my face it unlocks it.

Congrats, sounds like a beast :)

And FYI, the face unlock is a native feature of Android 4.0 and above phones, so it's not just that LG that has it :cheers:
