Thanks man. I'm hoping to start the first skim coat on the stump today. Since my wife is having both families here for Thanksgiving she has given me a Thanksgiving deadline!!:nilly: :WHOA: It will be a sprint to the finish.

What are all the spray bars for?

Do you mean the jets in bottom of tank?

I was going to ask the same question...

These are called undergravel jets or UGJ for short. They are DIY'ed of course. I'll give a quick run down on what there for. For years fish keepers have been looking for a way to keep their substrate clean whether it be sand gravel rocks etc. These are mainly used by cichlid keepers but can be used by anyone. How this works is water is pumped to bottom of tank were it exits the jets. For this tank there is 7. Larger tank gets more jets smaller tank gets less jets.Everything you see the piping and jets are covered by substrate. So once tank is up and running you dont even see these jets. The jets are each adjustable. You position each jet so it sprays water across the substrate. By doing this the fish poo and debris in tank cannot settle on or in substrate. The fish poo stays suspended in the water column and gets picked up by your filter. These jets work amazingly well. You will have less vacumming of your substrate and if you set it up correctly it eliminates vacumming your substrate altogether. When you make these you match pump by shooting for 125 to 150 gph per jet. Hope this helps explain them. Heres a couple of pics.

Also forgot to mention that these supply water to all areas of the tank thus eliminating dead spots in tank.

what is that coated with? and how come there are two tips that arent flat like the others? great idea BTW.

The coating is just Marine Epoxy with aquarium sand in it. I put this on there because the bottom of tank is going to be covered in green plants. This way if turtles dig down to pipe it will blend in better than white pvc. As for the 2 smaller tips. When using fan jets as I did you tend to lose alot of pressure in the ugj system so to compensate I put a couple round smaller nozzles in the system to keep pressure up so fan nozzles have a nice flat fan spray I can direct across substrate. Thanks for the interest.:D
