just use the photo lounge to post pics of your fish unless your asking a question/seeking info pertaining to the photos you post. the only reason people even post photos and arent seeking info about those photos just wants somebody to say " oh wow nice fish, etc.." and sometimes thats nice to hear but it certainly doesnt deserve its own section. those "make me feel good" photos belong in a lounge.

Yeah.....But when Mbunafishkeepers xanthic jag, produces xanthic fry, I want to see it for sure in the C/A-S/A, and not HOPE I see it in the photo lounge. The photo lounge IMPO are for the bulk shots from different pic taking sessions. The sub forums are for those breath taking moments only your individually focused colleagues can TRULY appreciate....

I agree...BUT...

First I think its GREAT that our mods/management, whatever you want to call them, are looking at this per our request. They could just ignore it but they're not...:thumbsup:

Second, I think we're talking about two different "photo sections." I posted a link in this thread to another site. Yes they're snobs there but they have what they call a "Gallery."
http://www.aquahobby.com/e_freshwater_tropical_aquarium_fish.php
The gallery has a page similar to a table of contents where it categorizes the fish. In the cichlid section, or whichever part you choose, they have all of the fish in their gallery listed. When you're looking for a Betta, Guppy, Loiselli, or JD etc...you just click that link. Photo's of the fish pop up along with basic reviews from people who have kept them

From that gallery I learned a TON of information as a newbie. It's an extremely POWERFUL RESOURCE to beginners, and people who are looking for specific information. For example, I never even heard of a Jack Dempsey until I went there. I found the gallery and started looking at all the different fish, and was amazed at what I found. That's what got me started, and now I LOVE this hobby. Not only is the specific info there easy to find, but this might also limit the number of "What is this" threads, and beginner questions...we repeat ourselves a lot here. I don't mind helping at all, its fun and makes us all feel important, just would be a good tool for such an impressive site we have here.

Last, I think most times threads with photo's don't belong in such a "gallery" section. This would water it down considerably. I'd try to make sure the threads stay in the forum itself, not the gallery. I agree with the others...if I have new shots of my tank and fish to display they don't belong in a gallery, they should be in the forum like normal.

Lets at least consider a "gallery" type of section for each group of fish, then have 5-10 pics of the particular fish (JD for example), water req'ts, basic habitat requirements, and maybe something describing agression and compatibility...Oh and HOW TO SEX THEM too.

Sounds like some work, but man it would be a beautiful thing! I can also see it funneling more Fishkeepers to our site when they are searching the web for info on a specific fish.

PLEASE CONSIDER IT! If I can help I will!!! :D
