Depends on what kind of clown it is...that is not a picasso by any means however, and that fish is not worth $100.

i was looking at it and thinking that is way to much money for it.

as for my fish i don't know what it is worth as i don't plan to sell it. would be nice to see how much it is worth though. just seen that one at the lfs and was like "oh my damn...if thats a correct price i have a $200 clownfish at home!":grinno:

i geuss overall i am more curious as to why mine changed then anything else.

You guys have some good stores down in Minneapolis...what was that one? A world of fish?

I used to be a member there...but that was when I was gettin out to the cities 3 or 4 times a year. No more alas. That store would be the best store in the state here.

I agree that the clowns you have seem to be True Perculas at best. I do think that in the midwest at least, and even online that a mated pair of anything seems do be a 100 or more.

I just bought a pair(not mated, at least yet, but 2 clowns non the less) that were marked as picassos. They are being acclimated from QT now so hopefully I will be able to get a pic or two tomorrow. They have to be pretty low grade, particularly one of them looks more like a normal percula. I liked the one that is more unique a lot though and it was 75 bucks for the 2 of them, so I went for it. Here in Milwaukee, besides one store, all true percs start at about 50 bucks, so I wouldn't really be worried that you got riped off.

As far as it changing, I can't say I know why or what the deal is. If I was you I would just enjoy it cause I think that one looks pretty cool.

btw that link to that picasso has to be the most crazy picasso, or any form of clownfish pattern I have seen.

That really sucks for you guys. Here clownfish are no more than 10 bucks and they're extremely easy to pair up. Mated pairs of maroons are 60ish at most

10 bucks for picassos? I doubt that. I have seen many wholesale lists and they cost more than that wholesale. If you are talking normal stuff like maroons, ocellaris, etc. then yes I could see that. There is one place in Milwaukee that has comparable prices to Fosters on pretty much everything and gets ORA clowns in(that is what I bought) for good prices, but I know that LA has much better prices(less middle men and shipping costs).

I saw much more expensive clowns than that during my stay in LA! Where are you buying your fish?

Clowns are easy to pair up around here too...I dont know why anyone would buy a "mated pair" that wasnt actually a discount.

Didn't you buy a mated pair? Oh wait, didn't you intend to buy a mated pair? lol

I dont know, I would be willing to shell out the money to have a mated pair of maroons just to avoid the brutal battle that determines the male.

I mean Ocellaris for 10 bucks. Picassos probably like 200 depending on the grade lol. I did get a pair of b/w ocellaris for 30 though. I go to the Mystic Reef. Not in LA, but close. Very famous store

Its actually really easy to do. Just put the male in a container thats clear for about 2 days and release. I had no problems doing it and I've paired two sets of maroons before.

Mystic reef also sold naked clownfish for 30 a pair ;)
