I'm wicked jealous of your garage! Killer floors and a utility sink! I had to build mine. You are off to a great start even if the tank sits as is haha
Thank you. Moving from Philly to LA, there’s quite a bit of shock when it comes to real estate and prices. My wife and I were used to having 2500 sq ft. Given how small and expensive these LA homes are, the first thing we decided to do was turn the garage into a livable space so we had this all done over the last three weeks. Still have to add the cabinets for storage.

The right side of this garage belongs to my wife for her business and office. I get the left for my “man cave”.

This room wil become my favorite place in the house.

So am I. I spend my time keeping the garage as tidy as possible and would never be in the position to have a nice big tank like that. Well, I could, if I through everything outside LOL.
I lucked out on this tank. I’ll happily throw out some stuff to fit it. Matter of fact, I will be doing just that now that my belongings have arrived. Lots of stuff will have to go to the dump.

Haven’t been able to do much with the tank since I’ve been spending my time unpacking all my stuff. So much junk!

Finally got around to removing the bulkheads that were siliconed into place. I used a razor blade to peel off as much silicone as I could on the threads and bought a huge wrench and a huge set of pliers and forced the nut off. The other one I hacksawed off. It was strangely gratifying to chop that bulkhead and piping off. I still have silicone residue all around where the bulkhead was that I’ll have to razor off. This was all much easier than I had expected. Thanks for the tips @jk 47!

You bet! Punishing bulkheads is therapy haha!

Nice work getting all that cleaned up. In the end you’ll be glad you spent a bit of time here.

So I did a few things today after spending most of the time since the last update continuing to unpack as I move in.

I went ahead and applied the weld on 4 to the cracks in the back top corner seams. I had to dam it off using masking tape since it’s impossible for me to ge my this thing on its side against a wall. Too heavy. I used some paper to protect the sides as well.

This Weldon 4 is super thin. Like rubbing alcohol in its viscousity. It did go into the seams quickly but did not fill all the gaps entirely. The seams and cracks seems much better than before. After this first round dries, I’m going to apply some more since it’s so thin that it didn’t completely fill the gaps in some of the larger gap areas.

Here are pics.

I’m going to have to do another round in a few days. I’ll also have to run Weldon 40 with some acrylic rods up in these two corners with clamps for added piece of mind.

Thank you everyone for the help this far.

I also went ahead and cleared up the silicone that was all over the back of this tank where the bulkheads were. I had to remove a lot of paint to get there and I still have some light silicone residue that I can’t get off with a blade. Any tips to clear the remained of the silicone residue off would be great.

Also, I have to repaint the back of this puppy. I’m assuming I can’t paint over what is already there or should I remove the rest of the paint first? I’d prefer not to.

Acrylic looks much better. Are you going to reinforce it?

You can paint right over the top of that. Take a cutting to the paint store and ask em to match it. The flange on bulkhead fittings will cover most of it and being black you will not notice unless you plan on bright lighting. Scraping it all off will scratch the crap out of it and is a ton of work

Yes sir. Going to glue some 1” square rods into both corners per wednesday13 wednesday13 ’s recommendations. I’ll have to get around to doing that as soon as my time frees up. My sons jungle gym just came in that I have to build and I STILL have a ton of unpacking to do AND work is crazy busy.

Thanks for the tip on paint matching the paint. I’ll have to take care of that this coming weekend. I should be getting my stand this weekend and I’ll have to pick up some primer and paint. Might as well paint match the back with the stand. Any tips on primer and paint brands would be awesome.

Thanks again JK47 JK47 ! All your help along the way has been phenomenal.

You bet. Sorry I missed your question. Save yourself a couple bucks on paint if possible. Those union ball valves rack up quick.. It's fine to paint the stand a different color than the background.

This is four different colors of black and it's not very noticeable. Black blends together really nice with different shapes. Just avoid mixing on the same panel.
