Do I apply the Weldon 40 to the rod like peanut butter on some bread before sticking it to the surface or would you recommend I attach it to the surface by hand and caulk the edges with the Weldon 40?

, happy for ya for aquring this tank, its a nice one i.m.o... little bit of work/reinforcement goes a long way. should last ya another 25+yrs no prob.
Haha, exactly...ur thinkin the right way for the glue application. The #40 works very well when used for solid stock acrylic like this. Uses less glue which is also a plus for how much it is. Mix small batches of the glue. 1 pint kit should be more than u need for all 4 pieces. U can divy up the glue by using a scale to measure amounts of glue/harder or use baking type measuring tools/measuring cups marked in mL

I noticed the shape of those rods from amazon won’t work since they aren’t right triangles. I’ll have to check out a local shop to find something that’s an inch since amazon is limited. I’m sure I’ll have more questions once the rods and glue arrrives before I get down to the actual fix. Time is on my side since it’ll still be some time to get this puppy set up. Still have to have the stand delivered, I have to buy the pumps for the filter, figure out which type of sump I’m going to set up, and figure out the plumbing. Haven’t been able to sleep with all the reading I’ve been doing on this forum. I love MFK. So much to learn!

Any time man. Most acrylic shops keep the square rod in stock of various sizes locally if u have one... its an item thats easily shipable tho also. I usually get mine from USplastics.com. Comes in a cardboard tube in 6' lenghts. Id imagine any online acrylic place would have it.
Just a couple more pics now that it’s in the garage.
I plan to start cutting off the existing piping and removing these bulkheads. Will also start to design the sump and figure this plumbing out while I wait for my stand to come. Need to sell a tank and some equipment to raise money for the pumps and supplies. Also got m novus kit to clean the acrylic up and finish doing the patchwork. My my what a project this is becoming.

I'm wicked jealous of your garage! Killer floors and a utility sink! I had to build mine. You are off to a great start even if the tank sits as is haha
So am I. I spend my time keeping the garage as tidy as possible and would never be in the position to have a nice big tank like that. Well, I could, if I through everything outside LOL.
