I was at big als in calgary and I saw a large common oscar for 25$. I brought it thinking it was just a common oscar. After looking at it for a while, I found it its not a oscar. Close but its not. Its a close relative of the Astronotus ocellatus (oscar) it is a Astronotus crassipinnis :) I have never seen one in person before or heard of anyone owing one before

I am very excited for my rare find :)

Like an Oscar but browner?

kinda, they have a differnet marking on there gill plate and they get thicker then normal oscars. ''fat oscar''

cool, looking forward to it, is it true that if the false eye on the caudal fin of an oscar is prominent then it is likely to be wild or F1 strain?
