cool, looking forward to it, is it true that if the false eye on the caudal fin of an oscar is prominent then it is likely to be wild or F1 strain?

here is a picture of the 10'' wild. I was told he was wild... I guess its based on the honer system.

NOT THE CRASSIPINNIS!!! my 10'' wild oscar

well done man, but it kinda looks like the same oscars we get in australia, im not 100% i dont know enough about oscars or it could be just the pics that are coming up in google images for me

but your wild one looks completly different to any other oscar ive seen

Very nice O. Can't wait for pics of the rarity!

Don't want to rain on your parade, so to say, but just stumbling upon an A. crassipinnis is a local fish store is not likely plausible.
Admittingly your enthusiasm is commendable. It's great to see that you've taken the time to look up the fish on the net. In your research, you've probably noted where these fish come from. Commerical collection and exportation of crassippinnis very seldomly occurs.
I am definately not saying that if I have not recently imported it, then another importer who supplies your local store couldn't possibly have done so.
Anything's possible. But plausible? The odds are extremely unlikely.
So unless you saw them labeled as 'rare Bolivian wild oscars', or something like that, you'll just need to consider the odds of actually finding this species given the circumstances.

But please don't let this diminish your enthusiasm of searching and caring for the fish. I hope that your enthusiasm is contagious and others will take the time to research their new fish as you've taken the time to do so. It's encouraging (and reassuring as well) to read of this still occurring.

my thought exactly, you do not "find a gem in a cowpen"

Thanks guys.

Big als did not order it in. They said some guy had it for a while and he could no longer house it so he gave him up. This guy has patterns of a crassipinnis, he also has the black spots in his gill plate and body. It looks like one... I will post pictures soon and see what you guys think

I was looking at it for a while and I was thinking it looks like a crassipinnis.
