Hello. Today I picked up my first ever stingray. It is a retric stingray that is about 4-6''. I paid 50 dollars for him. I bought him and a 6-7'' peacock bass for 80 dollars as Massive Aggression wanted to make room. I was wondering if he would be ok to grow out in a 55 gallon for a couple months until I get my 150?? He will be living with a 6-7'' pbass, 2 silverdollars, and a oscar. Tank is filtered by 2 75 gallon Aquaclear filters and is also heated by an 55 gallon heater. What should I feed him??? And how should I feed him??

Look into the stickies in this forum about breaking them into new foods. It will tell you what is suitable for stingray consumptions.

Will do thanks!

you cant keep him with the rest of your stock in a 55 for 2 months. they'll produce to much waste, on top of you oscar and bass. it will die. get rid of everything except for him, or put a 30 gallon sump on and you might be able too.

its retic, not retric, and did you really buy a fish without knowing anything about its care...?

exactly what I was thinking. I decided a week or so ago on getting a ray and I have been reading up on the every day and asking questions. These aren't gold fish they are something you should be well educated about before deciding.

It is really the fault of the seller.

At least he is asking questions and trying to get help.

I am beginning to think that the import of retics should be banned or atleast the prices increased as way too many die due to the cheap nature of them.

CICHLA DUDE: Please keep asking questions and taking the advice.
