Picked up my very first stingray ( Retric Stingray)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
cichla dude check out some of my recent threads. I would imagine you will or do have some of the same questions I have asked these guys this week. gl and post some pics I'll do the same when I get mine

Thanks Jack!

When I got mine from an online source, he wouldn't eat for the first three days. I called the source who told me that he'd been eating ghost shrimp. So I went to Petco got some and that got him eating. He began accepting blackworms the next day. Now 7 months later, I can't get him to eat anything else.
When mine arrived, he was 3 to 3.5 inches and I had him in a 55 gal. I had to do 30% WC twice a week to keep nitrates below 40. I knew I would have to upgrade, and from what I read on here, a 240 gal was going to be the smallest acceptable size. I was lucky and found one with everything on CL for $400.00. Just had to re-in-force my floor LOL.

why would a 24" in wide tank be too big for a a fish that gets like 18" around and has a long tail?

Because until the last 24 hours this kid has never asked a single question regarding rays. So he knows nothing exept maybe what they told him at the fish store where he bought it.

Most experienced ray keepers would say a 24" tank in too narrow, the reason I have stayed clear of rays so far.

i dont even know why this kid bothers posting stuff here. he just does whatever he wants anyways and argues with the ppl that try to give him advice. hes doin the same thing in another thread.

how in the world can you say a tank is too big for a fish? thats the most idiotic thing ive ever heard.

That's horrible reasoning, why would a tank ever be too big for a fish?
