oh btw, question...

i have 30 lbs of sand and its dry aragonite by caribsea, technically not "live", would i benefit from getting more sand? This time should i get the wet, "live" kind? It's 30 lbs in a 37, but the footprint isn't too big.
I don't mind waiting a bit longer if i have to for cycling
Dont bother with the spending the coin on buying the "live" stuff, unless its coming out of someone's aquarium or sump.

k but would more sand be beneficial?
i can get 30 lbs for 19.99 or 10 lbs for 6.49

I would almost say lean towards 35-45lb sand. "Live" is unnessisary, and a missnomer, unless it litteraly came from the ocean and was droped at your door still wet within a day or two the good "live" properties are gone, and its mostly a marketing grab.

ha thought so, ill pick up 10 lbs and some lace rock this weekend

update time :)

changed my mind a bit on the stock for the 125+

K so from what you advised:

Toadfish/scorpionfish: orange toadfish = beast
eel: snowflake
grouper: i like the clown grouper, but its a bit pricy and im trying to do this on a budget so if i get a grouper it will take a bit of time
trigger: def. want a black niger, was actually considering a clown for a while, but I've heard too many horror stories.
puffer: trying to decide between porcupine and dogface :/, what would you guys get?
wrasse: i wanted a lunare, but i might decide against it,
maroon clown is cool, would i be able to have a pair?, and how many damsels would I be looking at getting? 5? 10?

lionfish: still not really my taste
tangs larger: could i do a sailfin tang? they're so cool.
angels: meh

whew...
how does that sound?

ok so other than that, reviving the CUC discussion,

As far as a clean up crew? Well there are types you can and cant have. Snails and hermits are history, and would make a good meal. You will now need a clean up crew that can defend its self a little. Urchins, sea hares, serpent stars, gobies. Your going to have to get trigger proof things.

What do you guys think?

Would any of the larger blennies/gobies work?

Thanks so much for all of your help.

you can get a ribbion eel and some groupers a clown or niger trigger a rock angler and you can get all that at blue zoo aquatics

serpent starfish make good trigger food also..... trust me i know first hand, another neat pointer is that when you take one of there legs off it is still attracted to food and will wrap around a piece of meat the same way it did while attached to the starfish. it just doesnt have a mouth to pull it to anymore.
