K so from what you advised:

Toadfish/scorpionfish: toadfish are kinda cool, im not really into scorpionfish
eel: ill probably end up going with a snowflake if i get one, but id still like to know more on the green wolf eel
grouper: i like the clown grouper, but its a bit pricy and im trying to do this on a budget so if i get a grouper it will take a bit of time
trigger: def. want a black niger, not sure about another one
puffer: porcupine depending on its personality, if not then probably a yellow dogface
wrasse: ehh im not that into them, but maybe a lunare or banana, but would a maroon clown and a damsel or two work instead?
lionfish: not really my taste
tangs larger: maybe later down the road as i gain more experience
angels: another maybe, if so probably a koran angel

whew...
how does that sound?

Sounds decent. You wont stick to this list though, you will buy fish as you go. Thats how it always happens. Based on your tank size you could get a ton of different morays. Any that stay under 4' MAX. Don't feel you have to settle for a smaller moray, although i owned a 38 inch snowflake....

im 100% sure you're right about that, and DAAAYUMM thats huge for a snowflake

I guess I just have a problem spending $4 a pop for feeder fish. College kid mentality.

2$ at petco/petsmart.

not to mention if damsel is added after predator is already fed and full for the day the chances of them getting eaten is very unlikely. They only are vulnerable when first added and don't know the territory. Like i said, technique and strategy can go a long way.

alrighty so instead of doing the 37, or doing the 120/125,

im doing BOTH :)

first comes the 37, because i've already bought it and i want more experience

(plus my mom wants to see my grades before letting me buy the 120/125 :irked:)

so would an angler/frogfish work in this setup with live sand and rock?

I plan on removing the built in biowheel, but would i be able to replace it with anything?

Are there in-tank protein skimmers? Do I need one for this set-up?

Thanks guys

You dont need a skimmer but it would be nice to have one. Leave the bio wheel in there, it helps a little. Angler would be fine, and a fun fish to start out with. Fosterandsmithaquatics has a 40$ skimmer in tank that i personal used and loved.

Oh k, i was going to keep take it out cuhz i heard it will create nitrates too fast.

I looked on fosterandsmith and is this the one you were talking about?

I also looked on ebay and am thinking this might be better

http://cgi.ebay.com/Red-Sea-Berlin-...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a076ce071

And this for the larger tank?

http://cgi.ebay.com/AQUARIUM-FISH-T...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23082c8893

And I want to set up the tank where I wont have to change the water very often like I do on my main fw tank (2x week 30-50%)

Is a protein skimmer the way to go to achieve this? I also plan on a sand bed around 3 inches with tons of nassarius snails to stir it up (i wouldnt mind replacing em once in a while theyre cheap as hell on ebay)

Would this do anything or am I wasting my time?

I would highly recommend a protein skimmer on a FOWLR tank. There is going to be a lot of waste, and skimming is a great way to get lots of it out of the water column before it even settles.

Your petco has better deals on damsels than ours. Up here its three dollars and some change for damsels. Plus I would rather not buy fish from them...or anything. Unfortunately they have killed all the competition within an hour and a half of us.
