Went to grab some driftwood and a green severum at the nicest LFS around, saw they had delhezi but it was marked up to 50 so I was expecting like a 8 inch del, it was hiding face and I had to have an employee get him out. He shot to the other side behind the filter so I couldn't get a great look, but to me it looked like a 5-6 inch weeksii or retro (neither of which I've seen in real life) , the only tan on it was on the head and the rest of the body was a pale greenish color w/ skinny black stripes.

On white sand in a white tank so washed out to hell, I put down 20 on it and I'm going back next week to grab it. This thing looks awesome I can't wait to find out exactly what it is! So pumped to find a bichir that's not del, Senegal, or endli locally haha

My lfs has a 5" weeksii mislabled as a delhezi for 75 dollars. When I told them what it really was they told me I was wrong. So I walked down the aisle and showed them a real delhezi. The guy said he didn't see the difference. I don't think ill ever buy from a store again especially when they label endlis, delhezis, and weeksiis all as delhezi. At least your LFS has the decency to price their stock at reasonable prices.

I've personally got into a dispute with and employee on wheather the fish was or wasn't what it's listed as, but I can tell you this if I walk into an LFS and try and help them with the ID of a poly that they could sell for a little more and they refuse I will gladly buy it. Not that I want to get into and argument, but when you try and help someone and they refuse it.

Polli palmas?

^ nah ive had one of those, they were stripes not dots

Yeah i said to the person helping me I dont think this is a delhezi and they said neither do I haha. Sounds like whoever runs that LFS the one guy was talking about is just a ignorant person who cant take being corrected

If anyone can help narrow it down i did get a good look at the head

Tan, w/ dark green coming up the base of the skull and some black lines? I also noticed his pectorals were black (the base not the fins) isnt that a moke trait?

it is very irritating when a employee's think they know Everything about fish since they work there. Come'on you sell fish to ppl who keep fish you would think your customer would know a thing or two about the fish theyre keeping. i was picking out some datnoids and looking for a 3bar haha, I ask if he can net a few or move them so i can check the other side, He was like they arent gona color up for me and it would make them unstable more if he netted them. He goes and swing the nett around the tank and was see they arent coloring up. Im like okay and left, No sh it they are unstable from that SMH

^ yeah right I actually SUPER LUCKED there that day, forgot to bring this up in the first post. Walking down the aisle I took a look at their dat tank, perfect 3/3 bar IT came out to greet me. Yeah I bought him haha I couldn't pass up a tiny 3/3 that literally came out of the nest (there's a huge piece of decor they all hide in, you literally need to ask them to disturb it to look at any) so that was a good sign. Him and my slightly larger 3 bar sparred a little but now they chill w/ each other haha

The whole ignorant LFS clerk is really really funny to me, I don't let em make me mad I literally just laugh. Like the time I overheard one say to a customer "yeah a pacu can fit in a 55 for life" I laughed, then said that thing will get as wide as the 55 is. The guy didn't get a pacu.

I work at a LFS and I just love when people come in to get something for their tank and tell me about their 55 they just set up. They went to the other local store to get fish which told them 6 oscars and an arrowana would be fine for a 55 so I gave the guy my number and said when the arrow gets too big call me and his response was "It wont grow too fast will it? Im only feeding them flakes."
