thanks santoury - did a google search. I don't think so - this is like a semi circle almost exactly around the eye. No inflamation or other abnormality.

I'm gonna go back again and try for one more photo.

have any other fish been agressive towards him? maybe one of them just god him around the eye?

yeah he's been staking his claim alright; I guess that's probably what I was asking - could a nip look like that.

But, I will stop pestering you good people until I can post a proper picture which will not now be until tomorrow. If it's a growth I imagine it will get worse quite quickly

edit : I found a picture of him from earlier today; it's far too blurry to be of any use to anyone who doesn't "know" him lol, but I can see a little mark over his eye and that's the start of it.

He either scraped himself on decor moving too fast (to escape pestering perhaps) or he got nipped.

I see stuff like that on my Oscar at least once a month

i'd just go with the salt idea...just bump it up to like .3% if it's that big of a deal to ya.
