Dude that is so impressive. I love the pic that has the bar in it. Great perspective. That tank size fits perfectly. I am jealous.

Thank you! I took that pic standing in my den...the back wall of the den is a huge arched opening leading into the kitchen/eating are. So as im on my couch watching tv I can look over my shoulder and see most of the tank :headbang2

I cringe at the price because in my head I think I could have built it for less. The cost was 2800 for the stand and canopy as you see it. I got 2 quotes and they were within 50 bucks of each other. Now...its built like a tank (I can stand on that ledge all 240lbs of me)...perfect in every way...and the finish is a 2 part paint and then a stain on top that is rubbed off (called glazing). They also made a special effot to waterproof the inside of the stand so it would hold water in the bottom basin if something leaked...doors on the side of stand and canopy....but dang...2800 is a lot. But as I posted in the beginning...I didnt have to foot the bill this time sooooo :headbang2

Well the thing is you paid the money and its done. You did it first class, so no regrets. The only thing that I would say is you probably should have gone with the 300 gallon tank, since you had some much expense involved. The 240 looks very nice though.

I agree...thats what I was getting at in your 30" tall thread. I was too worried about if I could fit a 30" front to back tank that when I decided it needed to be 24" front to back I just got the 240. I just cant wait any longer and try to sell the 240 and then wait for the 300tall...I just gotta get a tank setup...since Katrina I have been looking at an empty tank on a stand...the last 280 and now this 240 lol. So one day i'll think about selling it to get a 300....

yah, Katrina did a number on us. I'm still thinking about getting a whole house natural gas generator.

My new house has hurricane clips on the roof and it has a 200amp automatic transfer switch already...just saving for a large NG generator to hook to it for that very reason. My fish were dead and my fridges were the most god awful thing I have ever smelt in my life...and I smelled some rank stuff!

Another sidetrack (its my thread so I can I guess) this is after the storm...my car was at a body shop (arround Tulane av.) from a wreck...its the one with a yellow line pointing to it

You can see cars on the ground under water...and this was taken from a sat a couple days AFTER storm!

I suppose if you like your car, that's good. :D

Thats a long story all on its own...but I wanted them to leave it on the ground...it should have been totaled before it even got to the shop. Instead it took 18 months from start to finish...lots of headach and fighting...only for me to be right and they total the car anyway after the ins co droped 12k to fix it. Now im in a 06 mustang GT with 465rwhp that I LOVE :headbang2

Completely off-topic, but I'm wanting one of the new Challengers.

I really like those...and to keep on topic...I was told by the cabinet place that you could park a car on top of the stand lol. I fig the total will be close to 3k pounds on the floor so I bet you could. My car is 3650 as it sits...I added a blower and took some weight off with other stuff I swapped.

I bet the stand is 2-300 lbs...the top is two 3/4" ply sheets samiched together and the 6 support legs are 4x4's along with all the rest of the wood. I was cleaning the overflows last night before attaching the bulkheads and I was standing on the ledge with 1/2 my body in the canopy lol

love it!!! looks stunning!!! love the lighting too
