try filling your tank with hot water, leave it there for 24hrs.... all hard spots will be easy to take off with a soft sponge... if it is still rough keep water inside your tank and use a heavy duty mag float.. (magnet cleaner)
it will be alot easier for you bro... thats what i did with mines

and i plan to get a big mag thing for it.


my dad just stopped by and he thinks i should cut a section out around the "oyster" and re silicone just that part.
havent got my gramps here yet.
anyone else think that would be ok?

gramps just left.
he picked the chip out and said dont worry about it.
i told him i will probably always worry about it.lol
he said i cant silicone over it or cut it out and redo that section.

he put silicone in between the glass and then in the corners when he built it.
so it has lots of silicone.
guess time will tell.

tore all the paneling off.
theres always a surprise on the other side for me.
looks like carpenter ants or termites got to some of the stand.
they ate away spots.doesnt look like it will hurt structurally.
didnt find any bugs dead or alive,just poop im guessing.lol
gotta tell previous owners cus they got wood floors.
other then that stand looks strong.
they used bolts and biig nails.
i plan to add a bit more wood for bracing and for the trim to get nailed to.

no the last pic is of lil balls,some black some brown.
im guessing the black balls are poop and brown ones are like wood crumbs.
maybe someone that knows bugs can chime in on this.
oh and like i said,i didnt find any termites or ants or anything alive,or dead,just poop and tore up wood.

my luck tank crumbles and ants go everywhere

if i were u i would reseal the whole thing. 20 year old silcone s not as structurally sounds as 1 year old silcone.

ya but is an amateurs silicone better then old silicone?lol
my gramps came over and looked at it all and said it would be fine.
this silicone is so thick,hard to see in pics.
plus theres silicone in between the glass.

im just going to do it and hope for the best.lol
my aro cant wait any longer.
plus still gotta finish,stand,filter,lids,cycle.
and to re silicone that would suck!
