well sand washes off :grinno:
and where does it say slime loss = stress?
and im guessing dragging a fatty out of the water isnt good for those monsters over there.
all of a sudden no buoyancy
dragging a fish onshore "unless you have a trick i would like to hear"
lol
cant be easy to hold something that big so you guys must drop them.
no ones perfect ;)

yes we do have a trick over hear.... it's called using a landing net i use a 42" landing net for my pike and carp fishing then by grabbing the base of the net with one hand and the rim of the net with the other it creates a nice soft sling for me to transport my fish to the unhooking mat where i can unhook the fish safly and reduce the amount of stress given to the fish

i then take my trophy picture but always using 2 hands to support the larger fishes body weight never lifting a fish just buy it's jaw, by holding the fish near it's head and by it's belly i'm spreading the fishes body weight this is then reducing the amount of pressure to the fishes head if i was to hold it by the lip

;)

hey thanks anyways for helping put this bla in my thread ;)
and your crap starting buddy ;)
I still cant get over why yanks have to feed live feeders to their fish?
and no one in your country uses live feeders?i dont see that happening.so whatever your pissy at us for, come up with something better ;)

I live in GA, LOTS AND LOTS OF GAR.... How do you catch them????? I will by accident on a RARE occasion snag one on a bass lure, but is there some "magic" bullet for catching these guys??? I've heard an old man say that he would use bacon of all damn things to lure in gar for the purpose of netting!!!! Weird. Ever heard of that???

I've heard of people catching them on velcro strips. (the cloth side) their teeth get stuck in it and you have no hook to get out of their mouth. (I have never tried this however)

funny you say that
what i found works best is a big chunk of raw bacon on the rear treble hook of a topwater lure.
drag it by them slowly and they should go after it.
the grease trail i think gives something to aim at.
plus when they bite its not just a hard thing,it has a bit of flesh.
so they hold on a bit longer.

ontop of that
i went and got red, lazer sharpened treble hooks to swap out.
you have to yank when they hit to get the hook to set.

i lose more then i catch cus there mouths are so tuff.

never heard velcro but heard the rope trick.
same idea, teeth are supposed to get tangled.
never worked for me. "some gars it might tho"
someone gave me a link to some online.
i just copied those.
