As a said I am new to piranhas. This was sold to me as a Black Piranha. He is approx. 5 inches. Can you confirm species by these pics?
 
Beautiful pirnaha.. I cant quite tell from those photos. How much did you pay for him? And when you putting him into the tank? And what size tank?
 
looks like a black rhom but im not 100% sure from that pic but either way it looks like a killer
 
im not going to ID it yet untill he's in the tank...for sure 100% Serrasamus species.

I got him for $49. He is in a 55 for now. I am aware that even though they grow very slowly, I will have to upgrade.

Yup, totally agree.. I'm thinking rhom but could be something else, a few tank shots would help.:)
 
Okay, sorry must have posted when I was... IMO, its a Rhom..
 
I believe what you have there is a Serrasalmus Rhombeus or a Black Diamond Rhom. He is a real beauty as well, great looking fish.. I love the eyes.
