Pics of my new and first piranha

Thanks. I will get more pics when I can. At what size does this species start to become un-skittish?

I have read that you should have at least 100 gallons for an adult Rhom. However, I have also read that max size is 16 inches, with most specimens not getting much over 12 inches. These two things seem to somewhat contradict each other. I would think, after reading this info on size, that you could keep one in a 75 gallon for life. Any input on this?

IMO it's a black piranha rhomb guyana..its not diamond rhomb...they grow slow IMO 75-90g is good for life, of cours the bigger tank the better.

I know lots of people with them in a 75g, but like rice said, bigger the better! :)

Nice Rhom!

I was worried about getting him to eat because all the LFS gave him was feeders. This morning he ate a frozen silverside and tonight he ate a piece of shrimp:headbang2

Awesome, how long did it take for him to eat? Mine still have not eaten.. :(

I got him last Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday he ate a quarantened shiner. Then today was the first time he ate prepared foods.

I would be patient. Your Ps are pretty new, aren't they? They can go months without eating.
