no just water changes and a lil dechlorine maybe some fresh water salt not much just enough to replace the new water your putting in

double your water changes and up the temp a bit should start to clear up.

wouldnt say 50% everyday, 30% every second day should be ok.

OKay I will do one tommorow how soon after should I do the next one and what chemicals if any besides dechlorine do u recommend i Use..... So NO cutting or massaging of his gills right

Salt is a good suggestion as it helps improve gill function. Just be wary of it for long term use. Sometimes this is not reversable unless you catch it early on, but I applaud you for trying. It would be cool if you figured out a way to reverse it later on in it's developement. Don't cut the gills, but you can try massaging them. There's nothing wrong with trying something new. Just make sure you got no chemicals on your hands and probably put some kind of dechlore with a slime coat additive.

Necrocanis, what do you mean by that? Should not use all the time? Addiction? I use salt (dechlorinator) in my indoor 150 and 180, but not for the outdoor (i just run water through carbon and 0.3micron filter ... takes ages but chem free)... outdoor pond is too big for salt. If i do water changes, in time the ground around it will be salt field ^^

PS: i do notice that arapaima is no longer hyper in the outdoor set-up (lack of chem?) the remaining ones are super hyper in the indoor tank

i did cut my RTC gill curl it didnt hurt him it was an easy and fast thing to do just try to be careful not to cut anything else just the soft part. if your RTC is not skittish when taken out of the water then cutting it wont be a problem. here what i did

i took him out put him on the aquarium lid then started the process cutting the gill curl/the soft part and then put him back in. next day i did a 50% water change then the following is 25-30% i did it for a week and its gone already
