Try not to use surgical method until you have tried all other avenues first. Water changes, massages, isolation etc

i am not so sure but the process took me about 30-40 secs, again it may differ depending on the behavior of your RTC mine was calm thats why it was easy for me to do it.

Hey Johan is this similar to what u did???
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIZV-mI0qRk
I am kinda iffy on doing this like everyone says I will wait another 2 weeks continue my water changes. Last night I did a 60% change today I will do a 40% thaniks for the info

yes, its much easier on RTC though cause they lay flat. just pretend your a hair cutter in a salon perfecting a hair. but try to identify the curl. if the curl is on the hard part im sorry theres nothing you can do(unless other know something) and i dont recomend cutting that part cause it would hurt them. gill curl is an indication of how bad an owner is in which i always tell the fish store i bought the gill curled RTC "DO A WATER CHANGE" everytime i go check their new stuff i remind them that. whats funny is how they spell eel, they spell it like "eil" haha!

Yohan Now that you mention this I am sure i bought this RTC with the gill curl because I remember it being a little curled when i bought him he 8 inches in a 35 gal tank and this may have caused the problem.... and there was 3 other cats in there similar to size but i guessed that it was overstocked because it was LFS. im going to go over there today and check to see if the other cats have the same problem. Now he is 12 inches in a 125 gal.... what do u mean if it is in the hard part..... Which I think it may be.... Is gill curl a serious problem health wise??? is it life threatining

the soft part is just like the skin and the hard part is like a thin plastic.

from what i know its not a life threatening illness it just stays like that. its odd though youll have people check your fish out and see it like that chances are they will see you as a bad owner or they will see it as ugly.

I have seen some progress since i have been doing water change but it seems that it is irriversible but one good thing is that my water parameters are near perfect
