Chill down bro I'm only 14 I thought I was doing pretty good for my first tank everyone else is trying to help me. And that's not my catfish is a redtail/shovel nose cross and I just got the gar pacu and cat. I know I have to get rid of them my friends got a 250
Being 14 is no excuse, there have already been plenty of 14-15 year olds who've posted in this thread telling you that your tank is overstocked. And fyi, redtail/tsn hybrids usually get larger than regular tsn's. Your tank has a lot of issues that all could have been prevented by doing a 30 second google search for each of them. And giving your pacu to your friend who supposedly has a 250 gallon is just going to overstock his tank. Pacus should not be kept in any less than 360 gallons, believe me I made the mistake of buying one for my 225g a year ago, and it is already beginning to outgrow it.

Am sorry am in school and have lots of homework and I also play baseball..
... Having a fish tank is not my life I just like to do it as something for fun and am sorry if that’s not good enough for you.

You have taken on the responsibility of a life form. It is your job to care for it properly. Its not cool to get a dog and only let it out to pee once a day, if you can't care properly for a dog don't get a dog. If you can't care properly for a fish tank, don't have a fish tank.

You are in school and on a sports team. That is awesome. Its what 14 year old's do. That is a good thing. Abusing an animal you simply aren't prepared to care for isn't.

Like I said, you aren't ready yet for fish. Maybe in a few years you will be. But right now, you aren't able or even willing to care properly for them. So give them to someone who will... why is that so hard?

its not like i dont do them i change it when i can it might be a week or a month
With your stock level, you need to be doing at least 60% changes per week or 30% twice a week. I am also in school, and I guarantee you I have at least 5x as much homework as you do (I worked on homework yesterday from 2:35pm until about 9:00pm), but I make time to do water changes, and I never do less than 70 gallons per week.

i can throw them in my pond if thats what everyone wants me to do but i dont want to do that and screw up floridas ecosystem even more. ive been trying to go to the fish store and see if they want them but i havent had the time

They are very unlikely to take the rtc/tsn or the pacu unless they have some very large display tanks. Releasing the fish is definitely not an option unless your family owns the pond, otherwise it is illegal.

A month is far too long. I was in school last year and I still manged to get the necessary changes done.

I have a 75 gallon with
1 8" oscar
2 4" parrots
1 1" parrot
1 5" pictus

I do 50% change every 3-4 days and NEVER go longer than a week with changes. i'm not over stocked now but I will soon so i am working on getting a 125 gallon.

If you can't make the time to do even the most basic upkeep then you shouldn't have fish.

don't be sorry just listen to advice and give your fishies a good home

The best thing you can do is call your local fish store and see if they take trade-ins. Trade some of your fish in for money or credit. I would get credit for either food...or save it for another tank. You obviously dont want your fish to suffer, but nobody here actually knows what the fish are going through...so dont let them get to you. The water change debate can go on and on and on and on, just make sure you water levels (ammonia nitrate nitrite) are in check. Make sure they have fresh topped off water too.

The sad thing is that there are much bigger tanks on here, much more over stocked...and people love those tanks.
