I know what they are going through: dangerous levels of nitrite and ammonia, severe stunting, and extreme lack of space.

Really, can you give an example? This is the most overstocked tank I've seen on here (well technically the second most overstocked, the most overstocked was just insane), so I'll be pretty surprised if you can find one that is worse and hasn't resulted in a flame-fest. The only overstocked tanks I've seen here that have been popular were at least big enough for the maximum sizes of every fish in them.

There where so many tanks that are overstocked they made a name out of it. If this tank was "JDM" everyone would be in ooohhh and aaahhh!

BTW, pacus need way more than a 360 gallon.

True but this wouldn't be an issue as much if he was keeping put with proper maintenance.

but nobody here actually knows what the fish are going through...so dont let them get to you. The water change debate can go on and on and on and on, just make sure you water levels (ammonia nitrate nitrite) are in check. Make sure they have fresh topped off water too.

The sad thing is that there are much bigger tanks on here, much more over stocked...and people love those tanks.

I can tell you what they are going through..... not one second of their life with out having to see 6 other fish in their swimming path and no way to swim past them with out getting in their path. Nitrate levels so high they no longer have functional immune systems. DOC levels so high that the water would probably foam up worse than a salt water tank in a protein skimmer. Dissolved Nitrogen levels so high that the EPA would consider the water unsafe to swim in.

The OP has already said his nitrate levels are sky high, but is unwilling to do the water changes needed to maintain them lower. Topping off evaporated water rather than changing water simply elevates the DOC's, DIC's and nitrates further, how could that possibly be a good idea?

There is no debate about whether or not water needs to be changed. The effects of not changing the water are so well documented, understood and established that debating the need simply makes you look like an ignorant fool.

I too would like to see a link to a tank that is worse than this one. I think this is the worst example of over stocking I have seen done on purpose ever. (The only one I ever saw that was worse involved a broken tank and a mad rush to keep the fish alive long enough to rehome them.)

Im not taking the time to look up the overstocked tanks but you can find them. Im pretty sure there is even a thread for overstocked tanks so you can look it up if you want.

Did I upset the children in here? I never said I condone his tank setup and I know for a fact two of his fish alone need to be moved NOW. A few of his fish actually look pretty damn healthy though.Ohh and true story I have about 200 fish in my 125 right now...are you mad at me?

BTW, pacus need way more than a 360 gallon. I disagree, but either way, a 250g is not enough.

I have posted in that thread, and I didn't see any tanks this overstocked, and if there were any, I seriously doubt that everyone liked them.

My comments are in yellow.
