if my fish were in that much distress like you say they are wouldnt there be some kind of noticeable change and even i know that is to many fish for one tank but it would be cool to drop in a couple dozen feeders

I know HS is time consuming, but Ive done that...Ive been to college and worked 40 hours while taking 16 credits. Ive graduated from college and now have a big boy job. Yes it sucks, but its all about responsibility. Water changes are something that need to be done...its not about finding time, its about making time. On sundays make time right before bed

Not necessarily, it just depends on how experienced you are. Someone who's been keeping fish for a while (me for example) can easily tell a difference between a fish that is well cared for and one that isn't. For example, your pacu is showing obvious signs of stunting.

At that size, its body shape should more closely resemble this:

And at that age it should look more like this:

that wasnt even the one i was looking for. There are some on here with big arrows and dats that are redic, yet everyone loves them....usually they back it up with haveing 5 fx5's in the tank.

BTW my overstocked tank is because of the 200 or so fry from my Jags

Lack of growth, improper color, lack of territorial behavior if its a territorial fish, lowered dorsal fins, pacing, fin nipping.

No two species will show the same signs. Pacu grow about 1" per month until they are 18" long, any pacu that is shorter than its age in months is showing signs of stress. Pacu are super social and peaceful, swimming sporadically and hitting the glass hard at random times and causing a splash is another sign its stressed.

Could be anything from laying on its side to a slight color change to no change at all.

your saying that a fish is capable of growing 4 feet that it has to. there are hunders of different types of fish that grow bigger in some areas then others. a very old pond i fish all the time the biggest bass in there is 5lbs but in some golf course ponds(that is smaller and way more polluted) in the same area the bass are like 15lbs.
