my hard water isn't very nice to either species.. They acclimate fine and slowly die off at random times.. This is my only survivor of honestly probably 20 or so. It has a deformed mouth too. I'd like to get rid of it and get a nicer one but the sad truth is this is probably the only one I will ever be able to keep unless I move and get new water.

It was marked as an RD but some say it looks more like a midas so who knows.

I don't remember.. I've got a gh/kh test kit somewhere that I could re-test it but I'm not even going to bother. I know for sure my pH is 8-8.2 but not sure of the hardness. My water is a pleco killer too.

Use blackwater extract and PH buffer 7.0 . It will drop PH and hardness. Both are fairly cheap....
 
Nice juvie.

Make a daily habbit of getting up in his face shaking your head at him. He'll pick it up and will eventually react with this aggressive display whenever you near his tank. Rather entertaining. ;)
