Where the Parachromis roam...
I purchased what the salesman called a "Aligater Gar" today, but i find it hard to believe because i havent heard of them being around here in a very long time.My Camera is down right now so i cant post pics yet.The gar is about 6",i am hoping that someone may have pics of thier gater gars at that size or close to it.If so i would really appreciate it if you could post some pics,thanks:headbang2

The stickies at the top of the gar sub-forum have plenty of IDing links for you. You should be able to confirm or correct your gars ID there.

Hopefully it is a florida (unless you want to house a gator gar?)

this would make a good gar quiz actually...look carefully at this fish and then look at the true gar vs false gar thread...in the second pic (total pics) you can see it has a forked tail. in the third pic you can see this again plus a much more anterior-set dorsal fin than true gars have... you can also see something odd about the snout.

in the final pic you can see a falcate anal fin, which no gar has. this is a pike-characin or hujeta gar, not a member of Lepisosteidae--
