How often do u do water changes..? Clean the media..?
U could try some feeders.. but i don't think that would help... What i think is...that she is not comfortable with the environment..
Are there powerheads connected..? and how many g's per hour..

i would shoot for an all-inclusive (or as much as possible) study of the nitrogen cycle and how it pertains to the function of an aquarium. as i said, no time/point re-typing it all here, part of research is looking it up yourself. you should be able to figure out which is important (toxic, non-toxic, more/less relevant) in terms of chemicals/compounds affected the balance of a fish tank--
