i've never seen a plec with sunken eyes before - can someone post up a pic so we can all have an idea? also what happens to the plec for its eyes to sink in? obviously because of lack of nutrition but what happens to make its eyes sink in?

In a mammal their eyes get sunk in whenn they get dehydrated...............Don't think thats the case here:grinno:

are you talking about royals being able to sink their eyes for protection? mine does it all the time. looks like its blinking

No, she means actual sunken eyes. When they're starving/underfed their eyes look that way. It looks like there's a ring around their eyes, it's actually concave. I don't have any pictures but once you've seen it its easy to recognize again.
Neervana, you'll probably never see it with your Royal since they seem to have appetites like 13 yr old boys lol

Sunken in eyes isnt something u want to see happen to ur fish.. its very disturbing.....

But i do have one... its a pic of my Chocolate pleco at 10"........... I miss him very dearly....
He passed away due to some form of infection... he was very old..:(

i agree ..very sad to see

When I first got my L-114 pleco it had sunken eyes and belly after I had him for two weeks. I put him in a small 20 L without gravel and fed him bloodworms and Wardleys Flake. In a weeks time he was fine. Maybe since he was wild caught it was an adjustment in captivity. Scared the crap out of me since I dropped 3 bills on the damn thing. He is fine now and eats like a hog. Up to 20 pellets a day.
