Pictures of Africans

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Lost the Albino Comp yesterday. Not real happy as he was a favorite. Went from swimming fine to looking like he was getting picked on so I QTed him for a few days. Was eating like a pig and looking good so put him back Into Gen pop. Next day no longer with us. I understand cichlid tanks have aggression but still sucks when it happens. Will update a few pictures soon.

Sorry missed your question. I have two eheim classics (I think 2217s) one at each end. And a FX6. Also have a power head to keep waste off the bottom and in the column. Clarity is really nice in this tank.

Bummer, sorry to read that.

Your P. phenochilus, looks to be around the 1.5 - 2 yr mark. Does that sound about right? Wait until he reaches 4. That's about the time it takes for them to truly show their full color/markings.

New inhabitant in the tank. Not really my choice as I know this is a riverine species and not overly aggressive. It was given to me and it was either put it in this tank or add it to my planted tank. So far he seems to be doing well. Has been in the tank for 3 weeks or so and the majority of the fish don’t pay any attention to him. I believe it is Steatocranus casuarius but since it was not purchased I am not 100%.

If I remember correctly the star is just about a year old in April. Estimate would be 8cm.
