One of my filters. There were no signs of distress so I think it really was accidental. Debating purchasing a new one as I really liked him.

By opening that thread again I looked a your Steatocranus again and I have to correct myself because I got new information from sombebody who kept both species. I wonder why I didn't notice the difference before
The pale scales with dark web pattern strongly indicate S. gibbiceps. S. casuarius has dark scales with a light beige web pattern.

This is just a common Buffalo head?

S. casuarius or gibbiceps. I would guess casuarius because gibbiceps was quite rare for the last years.
 
How much flow is there for the buffalo head?
Asking because even though I've never had any kind of cichlid, I do keep riverine/rheophilic fish. And in searching for advice on their care, I have seen comments about buffalo heads needing a lot of flow - if they don't get it, they become hyper aggressive and prone to bacterial infections. Just something you might want to know about if you weren't already aware of it.
