I'm looking into adding a pair of pictus cats to my 150g community tank, but I've read that you need to be careful because they will eat whatever they can fit in their mouths. I have small species including cardinals, rummynose, some small kuhli loaches, and plattys in my tank, and I'm wondering if anyone has had issues with pictus cats eating smaller fish?

They are predators and will grow to about 5-6 inches so be carefull. They are cool though, I love mine.
they get to max of around 10"..

i have had some pictus catfish before and they were fairly peaceful

i dont remember, it was just something i read somewhere but the biggest mine ever got at the time was 4"..but 5-6" is probably more correct

I believe at petsmart the label says they get to 10", but I have never seen one that long (unless you are going to include their whiskers). The largest I've seen is 5-6"

Mine were fine with 1" rams in the tank, and they were about 6" long with fat bodies. Obviously a fish by fish basis too, but they're not nearly as bad as bumblebee cats...

Pictus Catfish, Pimelodus pictus max out at about 7" but are usually 4-5"

Four-lined pimelodus Catfish, Pimelodus blochii, a close relative and look-alike, will max out at around 10"
