You are checking your perameters before water changes correct? It may seem like a dumb question but I've seen it before so it's worth asking. Also which water conditioner are you using? Some have more of an effect on readings for longer periods of time than others. At a Ph of 7.8 I would have expected to see higher readings than you were getting.
