Goggy better pictures of Xingu 2 at 4-5" TL
I'm sorry for disagreeing with you so much, but this is Xingu 1 according to Jens Gottwald.
Here was the conversation on the pike cichlids FB group, I’m pretty sure you andtcav88 are members. https://www.facebook.com/groups/225660984111130/permalink/3775532379123955/
I recommend against purchasing these fish as X2.
Yeah, I don't think they'd want to. They would lose some profit as they brought them in at a higher price as C. dandara juveniles. X1 are cheaper than both species.Ah missed that FB discussion. I'm surprised they haven't corrected that info on the aqua-import site yet.
That’s the sad reality when dealing with (mike tucc) aqua imports ? he gets a gem from time to time but most the time he mis identifies or just hypes something for the street cred, seems like most the OG vendors don’t like him as well.Yeah, I don't think they'd want to. The ones in the pic are both dandara. Males remain brown and females when bonded turn black with a red abdomen and white dorsal stripe. I meant I have both dandara and crenicichla xingu 1 but in different tanks. Yours will look like this until you find a suitable male, although dandara can be one of the most aggressive species so trying to find a male can result in one of them dying, which according to Jeff and Oliver is very common. I got lucky.... also Oliver lucanus (below water) in Canada has dandara if your looking for moreThanksGoggy and
Rocksor for this very informative discussion. Always something new to learn. I purchased the book as well.
I have noticed that most of the time sellers misidentify the fish specially with uncommon types. It's upto the buyer to do research. Having bought xingu 2 as strigata before.
I am glad to know that xingu I II AND III species can bond. Let's see how it goes with me.
Really happy about Dandara which is hard to get in Canada.
They are on shrimp and carnivore pellet diet. Anything else I can do to speed up the growth ?
