scat... whats the difference between the lacustris and tingui... hes a pick of my pike that some members advised were a lacustris.

Tingui do not have spotting on their faces and are creme color with brown spotting. Lacustris have a beige body with a greenish sheen and dark to bright red spotting. The spots continue into the face. Female tingui are spotted. Female lacustris are not.

They are easy to confuse. I suspect that there are a number of tingui out there that were sold as lacustris.

With that said, your fish looks like a true lacustris. Congrats... it is an awesome fish!!

Aye, true lacustris indeed! You have a pike that a lot of us would LOVE to have right now. Oliver has some, but gettin them in the states is a hassle. The more I see yours though, the more I want to make it happen.

cant get them to states cuz of brasils laws? such an awesome pike. i love him and i love him even more since i got the dithers and he comes out to play.

No, just difficult to get them to the states because Oliver is in Canada. You have to pay his prices, then importation, then shipping, inspection, blah blah blah. It is just a hassle.

Rich from IA supposedly has them, if you truely want them all you have to do is pull the trigger. I have considered it myself. If you decide to let me know first.

I'm not convinced they are lacustris. Certainly not the spectacular race that hails from Itapemirim...

Hi Guys.

I haven't kept up with modern crenicichla nomenclature, tho I do love the family. I do appreciate the help with clarifying IDs.

The "lentics" came out of Columbia, and the Cr. tingui and lacustrus(?) came out of Argentina in an area that is rarely collected.

I am supposed to have some real 'lacustrus' coming out of Brasil within 2 weeks. I'll keep you informed.

Hey George ! ~ nice to hear from you!! thx for 'sourcing' some of your recent Pikes - gives us a better idea of some of the regional variants. Rarely collected spots in Argentina have rarely seen fish - interesting and different....
We're glad if we can help ID species, some juvies are almost interchangeable....
Lookin forward to some prime Cr. lacustris ~ Iteperim maybe???

I was just there last week...was looking for a male Johanna. That big Johanna female is a bruiser. She needs a new home. Too bad I'm sure she won't play nice with my current females.
