Jon, did they spawn for you or with someone else? Ether way, fantastic news! I am truly envious. . . I will get it one day :D

Hey RAY - The Atabapo II pair (only about 8") spawned in a 55G. holding tank with 11 other similar pikes. Part of a newly imported group, they took over one end of the tank that had a flower pot (on it's side in a saucer). After littlt more than 3 weeks the eggs were laid on the inside top surface of the pot, emulating pike eggs stuck to the top of spawning caves in the wild.

A possible trigger could be the 'group' scenario. Dr. Leibel's marmorata pair spawned in a 75G. tank @ 8" size, maybe young adulthood is a factor. We hope you get 'it' one day Ray, it's just a matter of time until more Pike spawns are happening.

Seiichi ~ any info on your friends' tank set-up, conditions, etc. for their Atabapo spawns???

The fry are about 7 weeks old now, 7/8" size. We'll getting a few to grow out, should have them mid June - will post pics then. There are about 40 left from the spawn, 20 already went to other people. It'll be fun having some F1 pikes, maybe they'll be hardier than wild-caught imports, time will tell!

There are a few photos of the parents in " Our Young Pikes " post in the creni Media Lounge section! They have absolutely no hith, mamma's belly is getting pink again!!!

Congrats on the spawn. They are great looking fish!! Getting those to breed is a great acomplishment and something to be proud of.

Let me know when the little ones are ready to sell. I might have to grab an small group. I wonder if they will be more resistant to HITH and easier to breed them F0 fish? Time will tell!!

I doubt they will be more resistant to HITH. They were still bred in low pH, soft water. They are still a black water fish. ;) You can't ever really tell with pikes though, so its possible I suppose.
