Pinkies as food for Rays? Anyone tried this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The reason I ask is that I have reptiles and have a supply of frozen always on hand. This was just a thought as I am using firemedic's recipe for DIY diet and my rays love it but was just thinking variety is always good with rays so why not ask..

You don't think a mouse, rat, or other mammal has ever fallen into the amazon and gotten eaten? Granted it's not a staple for fish, but it happens. I've caught brown trout with flies that imitate mice. They didn't hit because they've never eaten a mouse before.
Not saying it a good idea to feed pinkies everyday, just dissagreeing with the total exclusion of your statement :D

you don't think a cayman or a piranha or ( especially) a turtle ( there are millions of them) or an aro or a bass or almost anything would get it long before a ray? Even Coypu, which are semi aquatic giant rodents don't really go into the water if they don't have to.
Are small rodents falling from trees there? seriously, c'mon, THINK about it. NOTHING goes in the water unless it either lives there or is forced to by extreme predation pressure.
Brown trout? wouldn't last a second in the Amazon. This is not some gentle north American trout stream we are talking about

Ive seen a oscar eat a mouse before. Not the nicest thing. I wouldnt feed it to my rays

what if it was a very strong flowing river? it could of been dragged down and while trying to swim to the top it could have been gobbled up by a passing ray. anyway i dont see whats wrong. i feed my snapping turtle squid once in awhile thats TOATLLY out of his natrual diet

amazon has been there a long time so im sure everything has happened there. I just question how well a ray could digest mammal bones.

I know I was just saying yes it prob isn't healthy what do I kno about rays? Its prob like junk food (a very bad chunky make your thighs thundery junk food) .
