Piraiba pictures

The snout gets a little red here and there from bumping it on rocks, decorations and such. He is currently 14" with a 6"+ streamer so a total of about 20". And yes this fish is a filamentosum aka Piraiba. I have had this fish since it was imported 2.5 years ago from ray777 and I have researched and studied various forums, websites, books, etc. To have a 100% positive ID of this fish being a true filamentosum. Thank you for your opinion though (-:

You are completely full of it...this is clearly a brachyplatystoma capapretum, not filamentosum...nice try!
 
why do you think the op's fish is a capapretum? because it still has spots? Juvie piraiba usually don't lose their spots until the reach sexual maturity. I would agree however that yours is a capapretum, the maxiallary barbels do not extend past the adipose fin which is a feature of filamentosum as described by John Lundberg the person who differintiated the two fish as separate species read the link posted by chub-by for further information
