Piranana being kept with other fish now

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think the one on River Monsters was a special situation. The ones in River Monsters had run out of food, and were looking for literally anything to eat, so I guess they could be potentially dangerous, but it would need to be in the right situation.

You should never keep piranhas with other fish.....these people clearly know nothing about piranhas.....they will eventually kill anything in the tank its only a matter of time.

In every river monster episode, there is a claim of being attacked by the fish he's after. A claim is just a claim. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I'm not saying it does either.
There's only one way for you to find out the truth for yourself ;)

Pacu have incisors similar to humans. They have a VERY powerful jaw.....and supposedly eat brazil nuts in the wild. Pacu are opportunistic eaters and will eat practically anything. Feeding them live food can make them aggressive.

Never saw his teeth until he ripped off his lower lip on a tank lid.

We prefer his full lipped grin.

I would go as far as a school of small teta as dithers, but like SandNukka15 SandNukka15 stated Piranha should kept as a specie only aquarium. Wolfish and Pirahna coexisting in the same aquarium would end quickly. Btw this same thread about piranha, and wolfish was posted about a month ago.

Pirana are now being kept in large tanks with other tetra like buck tooth tetra, pacu and wolf fish. Do any of you do that?

At the store i work at we have a big tank and we just put them in there with buck tooth bunos aries tetra and buck tooth all in the same tank.

I thought it was stupid idea but they all said it is ok.

ANd also what is the most aggressive species of pacu? Is there a small species we can keep in 100 gallons?
