1st of all do you realize how OLD this is and Petsmart hasn't sold Pacus, Red Devils, Jaguars, Midas, or Green Terrors for a long long time?Pirana are now being kept in large tanks with other tetra like buck tooth tetra, pacu and wolf fish. Do any of you do that?
At the store i work at we have a big tank and we just put them in there with buck tooth bunos aries tetra and buck tooth all in the same tank.
I thought it was stupid idea but they all said it is ok.
ANd also what is the most aggressive species of pacu? Is there a small species we can keep in 100 gallons?

i had no idea they were that dangerous
I think the article AND the woman who wrote it both make me SICK, pawning off HER responsibility as a consumer to educate herself before she makes a purchase like it's someone else's fault besides her. When you let your kids watch movies that have an R-rating and they go out and copy stuff from the movie in real life is that also the movies' fault or your fault for letting them watch it in the 1st place or not using the parental lock?
The fact of the matter is dooshbags like that are the reason experienced seasoned veteran keepers like some of us can't get ahold of species we want these days. Making the animal out to be this aggressive monster who wreaks havoc on people while they are sleeping or whatever farfetched nonsense they make up that particular day all the while the problem is really the reflection in the tank looking back at them when they look into it.
Typical trashy manipulation tactics to once again shift the focus and redirect the blame onto someone besides the people whose fault it actually is.
I want a damn fish that will jump out of the tank and bite my nose, and I want fish that will mutilate peoples' genitals. You don't want one? fine, don't buy it, but don't go acting like no one else has a right to have them either nd ruin it for the rest of the group cuz you're a loser that only blows everything out of proportion so your pathetic desperate self can get a little attention and feel important.
