If that is a 150 gal, why are all the fish bunched up in that small section you photographed? How about a full tank shot? Just curious.
I am a Cichlid (and lungfish) guy, and I hate to see anything other than REAL feeders eaten/presented as food - and I am sure many others on MFK will feel the same. I was just voicing my opinion, which I am entitled to. Moreover, your male convict looks like a nice old "Granddaddy" convict - hardly a feeder.

Srry to tell you this but all my convict fry end up as feeders, For my silver aro, my discus, my RBPs and even my jd's and bp's get some. What is your definition of a "real feeder"?

I to did the same experiment and had to pull the two 2-3" cons for the wellfare of my RBPs

then dont watch, or dont read about it. it happens. this aint even my tank so i could care less. but he did it because my tank enlightened him as i did it before him, i was successful, he wasn't. thats why he tried it but his attempt failed but mine didn't. it was "encouraging" i guess u can say as the reason for him wntign to try it out... call me a teenager all u want, u talk like a 90 year old man with a close minded personality. noone else is "chiming" in because everyone else followed my thread from december n know its already been done. we did all the bickering over in my thread but everyone knew the sole purpose of the attempt. i only did it cuz my cons were 4 dollars for the pair. if i lost them i wouldn't have cared. it was something i felt like doing and am still doing no matter what way you try to word how you dissagree

a 150 is plenty of room for 6 rbp, but he still could feed something like smelt for god's sake, not other live fish.

of cousre these smelt were never alive? Oh I sure they died in a humane manner. Gimme a break I supose you dont eat beef either

By defintion, I would include guppies, goldfish, and tuffies/rosy reds. Fry are also "feeder" type... Not a beautiful, personable semi- to - adult cichlid.
Full shot of that 150 to see why the fish are all bunched up in one side would be good.

Ah I see it's just fish your not a fan of that can be fed to other fish.

I though you were a cichlid guy? you ever have convicts, they establish a territory and protect it wether it be RBPs or any other fish

I am a fan of ALL fish - Even a guppy has a lot of personality. There's just no need to terrorize fish living together needlessly.

You ever consider keeping fish is a glass box is terrorizing to them? We all have differnt opinions and to slam a guy and call him irresponsable for that opinion is lame on your part.

I'm sure you have always kept fish together in prefect harmony right?

I am talking about intentionally letting a fish get chunks bitten out of it to "see if it will work" How is that responsible behavior?

he didn't intentionally let it get bit, it was an attempt that i did and it worked for me. what works for 1 person may or may not work for another. it worked for bderick, it worked for me, but didnt work for this guy... the piranha are bunched up in the corner like that because there afraid n spooked by the cons. piranha are very very skiddish n huddle up n keep there distance when they fear other fish... but obviously the huddle didnt last since they demolished that con.

If the convicts were near the left side - why are the Ps in the left corner, as opposed to FAR AWAY on the right side...

How about a full tank shot?
