Piranha Sand

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Eco-complete is also a very good black sand substrate. It provides nutrients for plants, and I haven't had any problems with it tearing up filters. I'm not sure if it was on mfk or myspace but i talked to someone who split a ten gallon tank, one half regular aquarium sand, and the other half Eco-complete, then planted the same plants on either side. He said there was a noticable difference in plant size and color within a month. So if you are thinking about planting this aquarium go with the good stuff.

thanks, its pitch black sand and it's cheap and heavy so you wouldn't have to worry about a HOB filter set up.

i prolly asked and im being really lazy but where did you pick that up at? petco petsmart? how much do i need for a 90 gallon?

well I got mine at a LFS but pets mart has it for sale (Itry to avoid that place lol) I do about 1LB per gallon so if you have a 90G and the bag is 20lbs lets just say, I would go for 4 bags, I have a planted tank and have it deeper as it goes towards the back of the tank.
