not cost effective but effective in getting rid of the pest fish. Most other ways which stun the fish are not reliable. To stun a large area such as a pond there only ment for basic assesments of what species are present not for large scale use or eradication of one species. With electroshocking which stuns fish and they float to the surface there is no way to make sure you get all of the pest fish.

I see thanks.

People that do this kind of thing are just retarted. This is the biggest reason I hate the media, they know absolutely NOTHING about ANYTHING. And for the fish and game people: I wonder if any of them actually have credible degrees or if they actually know that pihranas are in NO way what they are cracked up to be... They are the main bait fish in south america for crying out loud, lol. And second of all, it's Florida, since when did they care about exotics in their water ways? They should have atleast done a consensus before jumping the train and wasting thousands of dollars poisoning a pond when I bet the two that were caught were the only two in there.

Here is the problem. The piranhas were introduced by humans. If they were to spawn then when those are caught by other humans they could introduce them to other bodies of water. I don't like it but I understand why they are doing it.

Piranha’s are like the bluegill of south America just a baitfish. I really don’t know why people think there some sort of psycho killer fish, the big ones clock in at like 12” for crying out loud:ROFL::grinno:

If people would stop letting their aquarium fish go this would not be a problem.

They did the right thing in killing all the fish, because it is another exotic fish that no one knows for shure what would happen if they spread. Maybe more native fish would have gone extinct.

Actually piranhas are known to attack humans, especially when they are spawning and defending the nest.

Here's another misinformed person. Piranha's do NOT attack humans... The worst thing I've ever heard happen is when people are actually dying with a LOT of blood in the water. They are eating, not attacking. Sure, people may be bit by a piranha, but that can't kill you. They are not like anyone thinks. They are the main food source for most monster fish/most of the people down there.

I was never said that they will kill humans, however the piranha CAN bite humans especially the nesting time. Therefore the piranha may attack humans but not for food.
