I have seen this myself at a friends house, it doesn't matter how much you feed them. If any of them show a hint of weakness, that fish is a good as dead. So, in the there was nothing you could have done to prevent it.

With only 3 left, they will kill eachother. You'll find that one day (just like with the caribe), you'll have 2 left and a missing half of fish. Then there will be 1 and a good bit of fish left. This is just the way it is. It was the way it was when I kept my first complete mixing pygo tank 10-11 years ago. It was that way when I had 75 caribe in a 125 (juvies, obviously).
