Really? They don't go near it... I have 5 CL too... All bigger than him. hmm.

LOL I didn't see this comming... Alot of snail talk here... It's called an apple snail and I don't think it eats algea. I always see it eating massivore to be honest... PLUS I wouldn't buy a pleco to clean your algea up Prophet. I would buy a scrubber or magnet to clean it off. If your plec is eating algea off your tank then you aint feeding it properly...

yeah i have a scrubber also, but that only gets the algae on the glass. i sometimes see it on my driftwood and plastic plants =/. i thought plecos eat algae. does that mean flagtails dont either?

Sorry... don't know much on flagtails so I wont bs you... BEST algea eaters I have found are "Olive Nerite" snails. I think its a SW snail and cant multiply either in FW. Look em up.

I am lucky then cause they been together for over a year now... My CL will eat smaller snails like trumpets or ramshorn but not this big boy. At least not yet!

Nice loaches and polys and that is a HUGE snail.

Flagtails are amazing on algae. I've got a little 3-4" guy that stripped the side of my 75 that's near a window within a week of getting him. I have heard about them doing some slime coat stripping as they get older, so I'll keep an eye out for that, but right now he's in with two young sens

what type of snail is that and what does it do? I have polys too and ive read i cant have plecs with them because the plecs will suck on the polys slime so i have nothing to eat the algy =/

Pomacea canaliculata. These are not algae eaters but voracious plant eaters turning a planted tank into desert overnight. I have four of these snails and I always feed them all my Egeria densa I get from my pond.

P. canaliculata are bigger than Pomacea bridgesii and the whorls on the shell of P. canaliculata look like they sunk on each other. The whorls of the P. bridgesii will look more defined and firmer. P. canaliculata is banned in most areas due to the rate of destruction they can pose to local fauna.

Loaches often relish invertebrates but this is kinda surprising however with a snail that large, I won't give my own loaches a chance to eat a snail like that.

Olive nerites are brackish. They can lay eggs in FW but the eggs will never hatch.
