If your plec is eating algea off your tank then you aint feeding it properly...

Come on,,, I feed my plecos tons of food & they still keep my rocks & wood clean. That is some crazy twisted info. What you can say is that you still have to feed a pleco because the algae in the tank would not be enough food alone. I think that's where the misinformation came from. Too many people think they don't have to feed plecos because there is algae in the tank. As we know, that's just not true. However, when they do eat the algae, it does not mean you're not feeding them right.
Now, different plecos have different diets but you can't make that claim for plecos in general.

Let me put it to you this way.... My pleco tank is COVERED in algea until I clean it off... I have quite a wide variety of plecs also... 14 different species to be exact. I feed them every day with Romain, Cuke, Zuke, Beans, Waffers, Peas, Massivore, Wood, Colorbits, Shrimp, Bloodworms and many other things... If you feed yours Plecos correctly more than likely they will not eat your algea off your rocks and tank glass like I said... They will eat algea when they can't find other foods.

Wow

This is just an update for my Apple Snail... You were all RIGHT!!! He is nothing more than a hollow shell now... I sold the polys and now have my 9 Clowns, 4 Geos, 1 Carpintis, 1 Cyano and -1 Snail... I never thought they would get him... It took over a year for them to figure out that he was food.:screwy: R.I.P. Apple Snail. Thanks for all the warnings tho people.

Sorry to hear about your snail.:(

Edit: Bean, do you plan to keep snails again? Trouble is canas are not often sold around as these are illegal to ship interstate so you may have to find someone who has them locally or get lucky enough to obtain some from a store who mistook them for brigs. Those are the only legal means to obtain them. I'd love to share you some of my canas if it were not for the customs and legislations globally. I'd keep them in another tank just by themselves by the way.
