Pixie Frog pics aka African Bullfrog

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here's a pic of my pixie. Its about 8ins from snout to "tail". I got it back in may of '06 at the size of a quarter. I think it a female cuz i've never heard it croak and its "ear" disc seems small. Here she is eating a small rat. Oh and dont let these frogs bite you, very powerful with huge teeth. I know...:nilly:

badass:drool: :headbang2

at that size, color, and from the growth rate you describe it's a male.

post more pics of it

are they all born with the creamy underside . and the males be come yellow with age . if so how old are they when they start to change colour?? mine is growing at a fast rate ,a lot faster than my pac man did im hoping it is a male:D

Great pics!! These are some agressive frogs.

Did anyone see that special on Discovery about these frogs?
They were fighting for breeding turf and defending their eggs. One even bit a hyenas nose when it came to drink! I could not believe it.

I have a budgetts frog that I have had for 7 years going strong.

The underside of males will become yellow as they grow, just not sure at what size exactly that they start developing it.

Pacman frogs don't have nothing on these guys when it comes to apetite:headbang2

Not sure if it's same one but remember seeing one where the male would use their handlegs to dig a trench to open up waterways to the main pond/river so the youngs don't dry up:drool:

show also said that the reason these frogs eat so much is they need to grow as big as possible before pond dries out.

i've seen full grown wild african bullfrogs catching doves while they were drinking water. they are hungry buggers and have hardcore teeth.
