  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Tuesday (4/14) - Hadnt heard anything by mid-day, and package did not come in the mail. I sent a follow-up email to planet inverts. I received a response in a matter of minutes - they apologized for not emailing sooner, and for the delay, and said the shrimp will ship tomorrow.

I received an email this afternoon. They said they were un-able to ship the shrimp out, but apologized for the inconvenience & delay. They said they would ship them out for sure next Monday, and that they are going to throw in some free green lace shrimp for the incovenience/delay. Kind of a bummer that they havent been shipped yet... but it was "made right" (IMO) by them throwing in free shrimp (shrimp i had inquired about before placing the order, so its not like im getting something bonus that i wasnt interested in/cant take care of)... If the shrimp do ship on Monday, and they arrive alive in good condition then I will consider myself a happy customer...
I will post an update as soon as I have another one... :)

Well - this may have been a bad idea... It is now Thursday the following week, and I havent received any packages or any emails from Planet Inverts. I sent an email asking for an update...

Received an email reply from a co-owner of the company. He said the owner (who also does the shipping) was in a car accident last weekend and didnt ship anything this week, since he is still in the hospital. He said he would be out this weekend and would ship the package next Monday (4/27). An understandable cause for delay...

Yeah that is understandable..Green laces are awsome litter shrimps..Sorta rare(sh) imo..

Um I'm not sure but the guy from planet invert emailed me if I wanted to trade shrimps. It had the email @planetinvert.com and everything. I sell shrimp online on aquabid and he try trade me! After seeing the site I did some investigating. I came to a conculsion that he is a con how do you want to trade for my yellow shrimp when you own a shrimp store! I think if you want shrimp try finding them in your country his shrimp are really really overpriced.

4/28 - Received an email today from USPS that the shrimp were shipped on 4/27 - waiting for the mail to come... I work from home, so the handoff will be immediate.

I can't really speak to the con statement, yet... thats kinda of why I started giving updates in the first place... I found what I was looking for @ planet inverts, did some reading on the internet... most of the bad feedback I found was from a year or so ago, and I had seen posts where they were "cleaning things up" - so I decided to give them a try & post results here - also serving as a recent transaction account for the online community....
As far as price goes, I dont know anything about the other shrimp they sell, but I can say the 2 shrimp I purchased (African Filter Shrimp) I paid $20 a piece for - compared to $70 @ liveaquaria.com... and I couldnt find these guys anywhere else! So IMO, $20 each (pending a live/healthy arival) will be well worth the $$$ & wait...

Emily

Yea, liveaquaria is really overpriced with it's inverts (Most of them are named incorrectly with improper information, too. Really good quality stock though, but sometimes you can definitely find a better price elsewhere). Try crazycrays.com in the future, pending your experience with PI, they have some shrimp and they have great stock. ^_^

black_sun - thanks for the tip, I might give them a shot if they have African Filter's at a good price, those lil guys are so hard to find!

4/30 (Thursday) - I received the shrimp (2 africans & 2 free green lace) today, all look healthy and were alive on arival. They were packaged well, with some kind of moss. They are just babies, which kind of sucks, but planet inverts said they were small so it wasnt a surprise. Pending they survive I have no complaints. I must admit I was a little nervous since getting them shipped took so long, but I was comp'ed to 2 free green's for my touble so in the end I think it balanced out. I'd have to agree with other blogs I have read that say that planet inverts is making a real effort to "clean things up". I would buy from them again. If you have any specific questions regarding my experience with them please feel free to PM me.
