FYI - They eventually grew out of their platnum "stage", I have never seen an adult plat. oscar.
yeah that sucks thats why i was wondering if he had any adult pics of it, i wanted to see if they stay like that or if they mature into regular albinos

not sure about this one. Sounds like yet another sales gimmick like the lemon oscar, blueberry oscar, etc. From a business standpoint, they need to shake things up a bit to get more interest in their company. I'm a little skeptical about a "platinum oscar"
IMO the lemon is an originally bred colour and not only a gimmick sale.
The blueberry is a dyed oscar and is a 100% gimmick sale.
But your right about the platinum skepticism.:D

Well Aquascape actually has them in stock, now im not so sure I want one...what to do...what to do...

FYI - I did NOT get these from Aquascape. I originally got these from a vendor that is no longer allowed to sell here...lol

How about just emailing Pedro about them and asking him?

Well I'm only a month and a half late on this thread ... Lol
Bbbbbuuuuuuuutttttttt, I've seen a platinum at 11"
It was posted on craigslist for $80 and I went to check it out. It looked nice and healthy and a very silvery white color. Although I haven't seen li's mundy in person, this oscar had the same coloration I'd expect his to have.

I didn't have the money that night and the next day it was sold :(

That being said, I'm sure not every "platinum" for sale is that nice.
And I don't belive all the trash people talk about lemon oscars. I have several variations of yellow oscars, and at 8-10" they haven't lost the yellow.

Typically, when the word "platinum" is used to describe fish (or reptiles, amphibians, birds) it is a way to decribe the animal being Luecistic.

Luecisim is a type of partial albinism, but differs from typical albinism in that the animal will not have pink eyes (typically they are black), and the body is solid white rather than slightly yellow/pink.

True "Platinum" (Luecistic) Oscars may exsist, but are EXTREMELY rare.

A Platinum Barramundi sold for a reported 30,000 dollars US. The pictured below Arowana sold for a reported 80,000 bucks.
