put a peice of wood ontop of the peice on the edge of the counter that you are snapping it on. line the peice of wood on top up with the score, and the edge of the counter below it. score it only once.

If you score twice, and its not exactly the same score, your f'd

Yes, one thing i learnt about drilling thin acrylic is to do it very slowly at first... or else it just cracks under pressure...

About the cloudy water... in all honesty, no too much you can do about it at the beginning... it all comes down to the dirt itself... personally i've never used the kitty litter method, but with other aquarium soils, i normally just do a quick rinse and slowly add the water as you mentioned...

Another good method you could use next time is, get a plate you don't want and place it in the middle of the tank above the soil and pour water directly above the plate... that will also help cut down the amount of dirt the water kicks up...

Oh and btw, i'm FAR from a pro with planted tanks... still learning a lot myself :)

the plate filling method owrks well. also fill really slowly with a hose. who caares if it takes an hour to fill.

put some filter floss or a polishing pad in you filter to kep reduce cloudiness. you can also use Seachem Clarity withc binds the dust into larger particles that can be filtered better- but its not really needed at all- just for impatient people!

dont bury the rhizome of the Java fern. if you plant it you just weight it done ontop of the gravel and it will grow roots down in. if you bury any green part of that plant it will suffer. The most common choice is to tie it onto a peice of wood or porous rock.

Thanks to everyone who watched my video, especially those who clicked the LIKE button. no thanks to the guy that clicked the dislike button, you jelous jerk ;) :P
